Meadow Grove Farm - A Limited Palette

/ Painting Landscape

This landscape was created using a limited palette. It features hay bales, a middle-ground treeline and the Blue Ridge mountains in the far distance.

Meadow Grove. 11" x 14" oil on linen panel. 2014

I'm gearing up for the first of my summer shows:  Upperville Stable Tour, over Memorial Day weekend and the Western Loudoun Artist Studio Tour the third weekend in June.

This latest painting is a landscape that I've been contemplating for a couple of years, but I steered away from because of the amount of green in the picture.  By using a simple palette of chromatic black, burnt sienna and lemon yellow I managed to find a nice solution to the green problem and convey the feel of the meadow in the summer heat.

I'll have this for sale at Upperville on the 23rd and 24th May.
