In this painting I was trying to capture some of the early fall colors that I saw at Stoneybrook Organic Farm in Hillsboro. The paint-out day was heavy overcast and rainy so I worked on this back at my studio.
My goal was to limit the different areas of the painting to about 4 (sky, distant hills, dark trees and foreground). I left out some foreground clutter and changed the spacing of the trees a little, but the curve of the dirt track and all the proportions are true to life.
