Late Summer. 5x7, oil on linen panel. 2016
This is a small painting I did at the studio in Ballard from a reference photo that I took at a plein air painting location in Virginia. Working at this size is great for finding ways to simplify the landscape and use more expressive paint handling.
Spring has finally arrived in the Pacific Northwest after a rainy couple of months. My wife and I have moved into our new home in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood, and my new studio in the basement is just about ready to start painting in (pics to follow).
While the new studio is a little smaller than the one I had in Virginia, I now have my own studio kitchen/office, as well as a bathroom, storage room and den. I'm excited to get back to work after taking a break for a couple of weeks while we moved.
