Meadow Grove Fields (plein air). 11x14, oil on linen panel. 2015
Meadow Grove Farm in Upperville, VA is one of my favorite paint-out locations: lot of distant views across the fields, animals in abundance, a variety of scenery, trees singular and clustered, and the ever-present Blue Ridge. In short, a location that seems to fit my eye very well.
Today I set up behind the main house where I had a view across a field full of sheep. As usual, this is a composed image: I edited out fences, moved sheep, trees and even the mountain to create the scene that I wanted.
I was assisted by Flower the pot bellied pig, who helped herself to a few of my peanut butter crackers.
