East Lynn I. 11x14, oil on linen panel. 2014.
This year's plein air painting sessions have gone very well so far, with three paintings done in three painting sessions. All of the outdoor paintings I tried at home in March and early April were a failure, so perhaps I was due for a run of better luck.
The weather this week was rather hot but breezy so the bugs weren't yet out in full force. I stood under some pines and painted the view looking south west. I used a palette of black, burnt sienna and yellow, but this time added some bright red, ultramarine and Holbein's violet grey to liven up the sky a bit.
I've been aware that there are a lot of potential paintings at East Lynn Farm because I've driven past it for the past 14 years without finding anywhere to stop and explore, so I'm excited to get back there next week.
