Ayrshire Farm North Fields. 5x7, oil on linen panel. 2015.
There were so many things to take in at Ayrshire Farm today that I spent most of my time on photographs rather than actually painting. As a squirrel gathers nuts, at this time of year I try to collect as much reference material as possible to get me through the winter months.
After visiting with the pigs, horses, turkeys and a couple of foxes, I managed to make a small 5x7 sketch of the view across the fields to the north of the entrance driveway. I ran out of time (and energy) to do anything more substantial.
Sometimes it's easier to produce work at less picturesque locations.
