The Rooster at George's Mill

A painting of a rooster in a 3/4 pose with partially unfinished background.

George's Mill Rooster. 12"x9" oil on linen. 2013.

I visited some local farms over the Loudoun Farm Tour weekend looking for some residents to paint.  The rooster at George's Mill was molting and had lost most of his tail feathers so I sketched out a three-quarter view of him.  I put most of my painting effort into the 1 square inch area around his eye and comb.

This painting and the rabbit will be available at the Loudoun Sketch Club Fall Show at Hillsboro Vineyard in November.  More details to follow.
